It's a Photo Finish - A Personal Message from Fred Mackintosh2.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 5th May 2010
In less than 48 hours the voters of Edinburgh South will go to the polls to choose our community's new MP. Every day I meet more and more local people who want a real change on Thursday. Whether it is the recession, the expenses scandal or the Iraq war people feel let down by Labour. Edinburgh South deserves better. I live in the constituency with my wife Angela and our three children, this is a great place to live but I believe our community needs a hard working local champion in parliament. Over the last few years I have worked with local Edinburgh South MSP Mike Pringle to create a new medical centre at Cameron Toll and oppose Labour plans to close even more of our local post offices. As as councillor I proposed the traders permit that helps local business people park and campaigned to protect Edinburgh South's Greenbelt. I hope that everything I have kept you up to date with in the E-Citizen has convinced you that if elected I will work hard for Edinburgh South at Westminster. I believe that the policies that Liberal Democrats have set out at this election, fairer taxes, a fair start for every child, a fair future, creating jobs by making Britain greener, and a fair deal from a cleaned up political system make a compelling case for government. Remember this election is in your hands, don't let the old parties scare you with their negative tactics, don't let the old parties tell you that things can't be different, they can be. With your support on Thursday we can have real change with the Liberal Democrats. Every indicator points to a photo finish between Labour and the Liberal Democrats here. Your vote is crucial and I hope you will support me; together we can give the country the fresh start it needs. Yours sincerely Fred ----- Fred Mackintosh Scottish Liberal Democrat Prospective Westminster Parliamentary Candidate for Edinburgh South 4 Grange Road, Edinburgh EH9 1UH 0131 662 1513 fred@edinburghsouthlibdems.org
