John Curtice, professor of politics at the University of Strathclyde and leading political analyst has tipped the Liberal Democrats to win in Edinburgh South.
On Wednesday 7 April John Curtice was quoted in the Edinburgh Evening News, "I wouldn't be surprised if the Lib Dems get it. The Tories are targeting it too, but given where the Tories are in the Scottish polls, it doesn't seem likely."
Prospective Lib Dem MP Fred Mackintosh said, "Although it is always nice to win plaudits from the experts the real test of the campaign in Edinburgh South is what happens on the 6th of May. The campaign has got off to a flying start and we are getting a great response on the doorsteps.
"The Labour Government have let Edinburgh South down. Locally over the last five years we have seen Post Offices close while nationally the Government has presided over the worst economic crisis in decades.
"With just 405 votes in it is between Labour and the Liberal Democrats in Edinburgh South."
