Nick Clegg visits Meadows Nursery in Edinburgh South

Liberal Democrat Leader Nick Clegg MP was in Edinburgh South to visit the excellent Meadows Nursery in Millerfield Place and to highlight the importance of quality early years education. Edinburgh South Liberal Democrat candidate Fred Mackintosh took Nick to visit the Meadows Nursery as the Liberal Democrats are going into the General Election promising to tackle social divisions by investing in quality education for everyone.

Nick Clegg said, "I was tremendously impressed by the friendly and welcoming staff at the Meadows. As a young dad myself, I am acutely aware of how important it is to make sure that young children are given the best start in life. Knowing that your children are not only learning but also having fun in a safe environment like the Meadows is incredibly important to parents who rely on nurseries while they're at work."

Fred Mackintosh added, "My oldest child attended Meadows before he went to school and he had a great time making friends and learning about the world. When parents have to work having a well run caring nursery like the Meadows is fantastic. It was really great to come back and meet the staff again."

Meadows Nursery was founded in 1988. Privately owned it works in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council to offer subsidised places to 3 to 5 year olds. In May 2009 the Meadows Nursery was awarded a prestigious Green Flag award as part of the international Eco Schools programme.
