Mike Pringle has hailed the opening of Royal Blind Braeside House's new sensory garden. Work on the garden had been ongoing since 2008 after £60,000 was raised to help pay for the development.

The opening of the garden has delighted residents who have just finished celebrating Braeside House's 10th Anniversary last year.

As all of the residents at Braeside house have significant visual impairments the new garden focuses on stimulating the other senses such as sound and smell by making inventive use of running water and fragrant plants such as Mint, Fennel and Fir.

Mike Pringle said

"The garden has been a long time in planning and I'm delighted that all the hard work including the massive fund-raising effort has finally paid off.

"Visiting the garden really is an experience. The running water and fragrant herbs produce a very relaxing atmosphere. It is also very visually appealing so I am sure that visitors will enjoy it as well."

"It's made a really nice feature and provided an excellent facility for residents out of what was once a somewhat bleak and featureless grass bank. I know that all the residents and staff at Braeside are delighted."
