Local Liberal Democrat MSP Mike Pringle said, "I have spoken to the sub postmaster and he tells me that he believes that the office will be do better business at 136 Bruntsfield Place as it will be on the main shopping street. He also says that the proposed new office will be fully refurbished. I would urge any local residents who have concerns to contact Royal Mail at consultation@postoffice.co.uk"

Bruntsfield Post Office is one of 11 post offices in Edinburgh South that survived the last round of post office closures in November 2008.

Edinburgh South Lib Dem Westminster Spokesperson Fred Mackintosh said, "I am keen to hear the views of local people, but the proposed new office has the advantage of being closer to the people of Marchmont who lost their post office when Warrender Park Road Post Office was closed by Labour in 2008."
