CCTV Cameras Installed in Morningside Road12.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 9th Sep 2009 Following a number of break-ins to shops and business in the Morningside/Bruntsfield corridor over in July and August the City Council is to fit two temporary CCTV cameras on Morningside Road. Commenting, Mike Pringle MSP said "The spate of break-ins affecting business premises on Morningside Road has obviously been a matter of grave concern for local proprietors. "The good news is that Lothian and Borders Police are doing all they can to resolve the current problems and prevent further incidents. Meanwhile I have been liaising with local organisations, Morningside Community Council and the police to discuss what can be done to improve security in the area. "For the time being temporary CCTV cameras have been installed by the City of Edinburgh Council, I fully support this move and will be campaigning for the cameras to be installed permanently in due course." If you would like to comment on the installation of the new CCTV cameras or would like more information on what is being done to prevent further incidents. Alternatively if you are a local proprietor who would like advice on making your premises more secure I suggest you contact Carlyn Simpson, Community Safety Officer at Howdenhall Police Station, by phoning 0131 666 2222
